Y Concept

The origin of Y Concept begins with brand director Kayoko Yamada’s deep commitment to improving the experience of eyeglass wearers. As an optician, Yamada observed the frustrations and challenges faced by customers daily and wanted to create a solution that would truly benefit them. Y Concept’s philosophy is centred on creating comfortable glasses which are lightweight, stylish, versatile, and suit the wearer like a natural part of their face—so comfortable that you’ll forget you are wearing them.

Why do glasses use screws?

The biggest question Y Concept is trying to solve.  It is widely known that the component called the “hinge” that connects the front and temples of glasses is fastened with screws. However, since opening and closing the temples involves a rotating movement, is it truly optimal to use screws, which are tightened by turning?

Proudly presented by Y Concept, a unique hinge structure that requires no screws. This simplified new hinge structure, the temples are less likely to come loose, improving durability and resulting in a frame that provides long-lasting comfort and reliability.

The frames, crafted from Beta titanium, are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and ergonomically designed asian fitting to sit comfortably on the nose, preventing slippage.

This material is a variant of titanium, offering three times the flexibility of standard titanium, and plays a key role in enhancing the wearer’s comfort.

These exquisite frames embody the same design philosophy and high quality that define Japanese craftsmanship which we know from a Made in Japan product.
